BMW ALPINA B4 GRAN COUPÉ

Transmission

Smooth and fast

The ALPINA engineers worked with the transmission experts from ZF to specifically adapt the 8-Speed Sport Automatic Transmission from the 8HP76 generation to the torquey drivetrain, resulting in both outstanding shift comfort and shift dynamics depending on the chosen transmission mode. To be able to handle a torque output of 730 Nm (538 lb-ft), selected transmission components like the torque converter and the wheel set have been structurally reinforced.

Performance enhancing all-wheel drive

The all-wheel drive is based on the BMW xDrive system, which allows for a fully variable torque distribution between the front and rear axle. As befits the athletic character of the BMW ALPINA B4, the torque distribution is rear-wheel biased.

Limited-slip differential

The electronically controlled rear limited-slip differential ensures optimal traction and agility – especially during dynamic cornering.
